On February 7, the Office of the President of Ukraine for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea hosted a meeting with Roman Kholodov, Head of the Department for Social Services at the Kyiv Metropolis of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
Kholodov told the Permanent Representative, Anton Korynevych, and his deputies Darya Sviridova and Tamila Tasheva about an important initiative – free ambulances for transporting seriously ill patients.
This was reported by the Representation of the President of Ukraine for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
In cooperation with the Office of the President of Ukraine for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the head of the social services department of the Kyiv Metropolis offered assistance in transporting patients from the temporarily occupied Crimea for treatment to the government-controlled territory of Ukraine.
“Many people from Crimea have no financial means or are in a weak condition, so they can’t take care of themselves and go to the hospital for treatment. It is to such people that we offer our help. People should not feel abandoned in critical life situations,” Roman Kholodov explained.
The Representation has willingly supported the initiative and will contribute to its successful implementation.
In particular, there is an idea to post information about such ambulance vehicles at the crossing points on the de-facto border with the occupied peninsula, so that Ukrainian citizens living in the region, if necessary, could reach out to either the Representation or the Department of Social Services at the OCU, to ask for transportation assistance.
The Department for Social Services at the Kyiv Metropolis of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, headed by Roman Kholodov, with the blessing of Metropolitan Epifaniy, has been caring for the needy, homeless, as well as seriously ill children and those with orphan diseases for four years already, offering them support, including with special catering, personal hygiene items, as well as spiritual and psychological assistance.
