The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, in his post on social media, reflects on the role of hope in human life and its importance for achieving victory for Ukraine.
“Today, we all hope for our great victory. We do not just wait for God to help us, but pro-actively, making efforts, each in their place, with faith in God, we hope for our victory over the enemy,” Metropolitan Epifaniy emphasizes.
According to the OCU Primate, the very concept of hope is closely related to action: “The very word ‘hope’ points all of us to ‘action’, to the consequence of our today’s action in the future. So let us act for good, with faith and hope!”
The Primate warns against placing one’s hopes solely on people: “It is useless to place one’s hopes solely on other people or even on oneself. Such hopes are shaky, deceptive, often disappoint and fail to come true. After all, people are not omnipotent, often their actions and decisions depend on specific circumstances and life conditions.”
“The cornerstone of human life should be hope in God. All the troubles of this temporary earthly world can be overcome only by placing one’s hopes in the One who is higher than them, who saves and protects,” the Metropolitan emphasizes.
In his opinion, hope is a great motivator and incentive to live with faith and love: “Hope is the ability to see that there is light, despite all the darkness around.”
