Ivano-Frankivsk region confirms full break with ROC

As of today, there are no religious communities of the Moscow Church left in Ivano-Frankivsk region. This was reported by the regional military administration, Channel 33 noted.

“In the region, from March 2022 to this day, no religious organizations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have been operating, religious buildings (temple) have been closed. From August 20, 2024 to January 1, 2025, 1 (one) religious community changed its subordination in canonical and organizational matters,” the response to the media enquiry says.

As is known, the Lviv regional military administration was the first to report that the Moscow Church had ceased to exist in the region. In Lviv region, three religious communities of the Moscow Church have joined the Orthodox Church of Ukraine over the past year. Data was provided by the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

Nine months will have passed since the adoption of the law banning the Moscow Church on May 20, 2025. This is the deadline for religious communities that the government considers to be affiliated with Russia to voluntarily sever that affiliation. Parishes, monasteries, and other religious organizations have a few weeks to do so. So far, almost none of them have voluntarily taken advantage of the opportunity provided by the legislator. More than 90% of the communities of the Church, which is in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate, have failed to fulfil the norm of the law – they have not re-registered their charters.
