The Stauropegium of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Ukraine, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, is opening the “Invincibility Point”, where those in need will be able to find shelter during an emergency, get warm, charge mobile devices, and stay in touch with their loved ones and colleagues thanks to stable Internet access.
The “Invincibility Point” is opening its door in the office of the Stavropegium of the Ecumenical Patriarchate – the stylobate (lower) part of St. Andrew’s Church, according to the mission’s social media. Built into a hill and securely protected on three sides by large layers of concrete and soil, the facility is both a safe air raid shelter and an energy-efficient site.
Thanks to the financial support of the Ukrainian diaspora in the USA, especially Metropolitan Antony Shcherba, head of the UOC USA and Archbishop Daniel Zelinsky, Head of the Consistory of the UOC USA, the “Invincibility Point” was created and its work will be duly supported.
In the event of power outages, the “Invincibility Point” will be powered by a generator purchased and forwarded by Deacon Dmytro Maksymenko and members of the Rotary Club Shanghai Pudong.
The facility can accommodate up to 40 people. For security reasons, visitors must produce an identification document upon entry.
The Point will be open from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. During long-term power outages, the working hours may change.
