SBU finds Nazi paraphernalia, Kremlin’s guidebooks in UOC (MP) dioceses

The Security Service has completed counter-intelligence raids at the UOC (MP) facilities located in Zakarpattia, Rivne, and Zhytomyr regions, the press service of law enforcement agency reports.

The SBU discovered in the dioceses of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate warehouses where pro-Kremlin literature, Nazi symbols, “teachings about Satanism” and texts of prayers for the Moscow Patriarch Kirill were stored.

In addition, in the St. Nicholas Men’s Monastery in the Khust district of Zakarpattia, symbols of the banned pro-Russian party “OPZZh” and brochures praising the Russian invaders in the war against Ukraine were revealed. Propaganda books by Russian authors justifying aggression against Ukraine and urging people to join the ranks of the occupiers were also stored there.

On the territory of the Rivne-Ostroh Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate), the Security Service operatives  discovered hidden Belarusian cash and pamphlets calling for peace with the “fraternal Russian people”, glorifying the “Russian land” and “Russian soldiers.” They have been penned by Belarusian and Russian authors.

During the raid in the St. Anastasia Stauropegion Convent and two Skites in Zhytomyr region, persons who had been in contact with Russian citizens were discovered. Currently, these contacts are being studied by SBU operatives.

The “guests” were staying in hotel complexes near churches and used anonymous messengers to communicate with the enemy.

Currently, all seized materials have been sent for examination to consider further procedural action and bring the culprits to justice.

Security measures were carried out by SBU operatives in Zakarpattia, Rivne, and Zhytomyr regions.
