At meeting with Kirill, other leaders of “traditional religions,” Putin justifies killings of Ukrainians

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin met on November 4 with representatives of Russia’s traditional religions, including Patriarch Kirill (Gundyaev). Addressing the religious leaders, Putin justified the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine with absurd theses, calling the government of Ukraine a neo-Nazi regime, despite the fact that the Kremlin regime is responsible for tens of thousands of killed Ukrainians and for the occupation of Ukrainian territories.

“… if appropriate actions had not been taken on our part in February, the same thing would have happened, only from the worst positions for us,” Putin said, according to the Kremlin website.

Putin shifts the responsibility for the crimes of the Russian occupiers, who are killing civilians and destroying cities, to the West, hypocritically assuring that the Russians treat Ukrainians “warmly”.

“Its so-called friends brought the situation in Ukraine to the stage where it became deadly for Russia and suicidal for the Ukrainian people themselves. And we can see it even by the nature of the hostilities – it’s just strange what’s happening there: it’s as if Ukrainians don’t exist, they’re thrown into a furnace and that’s it. It is Ukraine, the Ukrainian people, who are the first and main victims of the deliberate sublimation of hatred for Russians, for Russia. In Russia, everything is exactly the opposite, you know this very well: we have always treated and treat the Ukrainian people with respect and warmth. It was and is the case, despite today’s tragic confrontation,” said the Kremlin dictator.

Putin called Russians and Ukrainians “one nation” that is fighting within itself, adding that the people were allegedly pitted against each other. According to Putin, Western weapons that protect Ukraine from Russian invaders only make things worse for Ukrainians.
