Epifaniy: We must unite in prayer and the Lord will help us overcome the evil that has invaded Ukraine

Metropolitan Epifaniy is sure that the war affects everyone, especially those who until now have not pro-actively manifested their faith.

“Communicating with military servicemen, with those people who went through the crucible of direct combat on the front line, in the war, it is seen that they have changed. They say there are no atheists in war, and it’s true. Because when a person looks into the eyes of death, who will help him at that moment? Then that person shows this faith, they turn to God in their prayers and receive help,” the head of the OCU said in an interview with Suspilne.

According to the metropolitan, he is very happy to see when even military personnel or the faithful come and say: “You know, we prayed, and the Lord helped us.” They even come with prayer books, new testaments or Bibles and say: “You see, here a shard got stuck in the book and saved my life. I carried it in my chest pocket and the fragment failed to penetrate my body, getting stuck in the book.”

“There are many such wonderful testimonies of what the Lord preserves during war. And we see such a certain surge of faith that the Lord will help us,” the hierarch is confident.

“In this difficult time, we must unite in prayer and the Lord will certainly help us in the future in order to finally overcome this evil that has invaded our common home,” concluded Metropolitan Epifaniy.

It should be recalled that the 23rd U.S. Council expressed full support for Epifaniy and Ukrainians. In other news, the head of the OCU blessed the opening of the first volunteer fire unit in Ukraine.
