Future fate of UOC-MP should be decided by new legislation – Presidential Office

Mykhailo Podolyak, the adviser to the head of the Ukrainian President’s Office, is convinced that all Ukrainian citizens who attended the so-called “ceremony” in the Kremlin where the annexation attempt targeting Ukrainian lands was fixated, are collaborators who should face criminal inquiries and be sentenced. This also applies to representatives of the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate) clergy, Channel 24 reports.

Podolyak noted that “we must demarcate everything related to Russia in Ukraine,” and all fifth columns “must be completely burned out in this war.” Kremlin propagandists should not remain in Ukraine, regardless of whether they are part of politics, religion, or media.

“The question is procedural and very important. MPs should develop a well-thought-out draft law that will clearly record what should happen with the UOC in Ukraine. All accents must be placed correctly, all arguments must be stated,” said Podolyak.

He emphasized that “everything must be clearly worked out.”

“There should be a clear draft law that clearly states how the post-war religious vertical shall be built in our country,” added the advisor to the Presidential Office head.

Recently, the Lutsk District Council upheld the ban of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine. Local deputies in Khmelnytskyi also ask to ban the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine.

Earlier, a Metropolitan of the UOC MP from Sumy region was spotted at a divine service in Russia. Also, Metropolitan Panteleimon (Povorozniuk) of the UOC MP took part in the event where Putin’s occupation of Ukraine’s regions was declared. Meanwhile, the Kherson hierarch of the UOC MP is in hospital after suffering a stroke. Metropolitan Onufriy appointed another priest to replace him.
