Following in Cyril’s footsteps, Russia’s top Mufti backs mobilization for war with Ukraine

The head of the Central Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Russia, Talgat Tajuddin, declared his support for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s decision on partial mobilization.

“The announcement of partial mobilization is a warning. Yesterday, at an urgent plenum, we, members of the presidium, having discussed the decision, adopted a statement of support for Vladimir Putin’s actions and called on all our compatriots to immediately comply with all orders of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief,” Russian mass media quoted Tajuddin as saying.

At the same time, the mufti called to avoid the use of nuclear weapons.

“We have something to respond with when others use them, but this absolutely can’t be allowed. And God will not let it happen, the people are not ready for the end of the world, while many even weren’t aware that it could happen,” Tajuddin said.

Against the background of the partial mobilization for the war on Ukraine, announced by President Putin, Patriarch Cyril of the Russian Orthodox Church urged Russians not to consider Ukrainians as enemies. He calls the war “interpersonal warfare.” He also stated that he is “praying for the reunification of the peoples of Holy Rus.”

In July, the Supreme Mufti of Russia, Talgat Tajuddin, during a festive sermon in Ufa on the occasion of Kurban Bayram, openly supported the Russian war with Ukraine.
