Ukraine Parliament passes Resolution on protection of OCU’s Crimean Diocese

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, said the parliament in the near future would draft laws on national communities and status of the Crimean Tatar people, as well as hold hearings on the strategy of deoccupation and reintegration of Crimea, the peninsula temporarily occupied by Russia.

A resolution on the protection of the Crimean Diocese of the OCU has already been adopted, Ukrinform reports.

“We are working on a number of other legislative acts that will consolidate support for all those who are suffering from this aggression. In particular, this is about the laws of Ukraine on national communities and status of the Crimean Tatar people. Also, in the near future, hearings will be held in parliament on the strategy of deoccupation and reintegration of Crimea,” the Verkhovna Rada chairman said.

He recalled that last year, the Verkhovna Rada passed the law on indigenous peoples and a package of legislative acts that repealed previous legislation on a “free economic zone” in Crimea.

In addition, Stefanchuk noted that several bills have been passed aimed at social and legal protection of persons who have been deprived of their personal freedom as a result of Russia’s armed aggression.

The head of the Verkhovna Rada assured that the parliament is ready to provide legislative support in all issues and initiatives aimed at protecting Ukrainian citizens living in Crimea, who suffered as a result of Russian aggression and occupation, as well as regarding the reconstruction of Crimea after its de-occupation, attracting investors and donors.
