Epifaniy, Onufriy, other heads of churches alongside President Zelensky pray for Ukraine

Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, and the head of the “UOC” of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Onufriy, together with other heads of churches and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, voiced a prayer for Ukraine.

The solemn “Prayer for Ukraine” event took place on the morning of August 24 in Sofia of Kyiv on the occasion of Independence Day, reports the presidential website and the national news agency Ukrinform.

The chamber choir performed “Our Father.” After that, heads of churches and religious organizations prayed for Ukraine and delivered their speeches. They wished peace to come as soon as possible, as well as strength to the Ukrainian people to endure throughout their difficult trials.

“Almighty Lord, hear the prayers of your children, look at our country Ukraine during difficult trials, bless and strengthen our soldiers, the President, the authorities, the government, and our entire people, who are resisting the insidious Russian aggressor on land, at sea, and in the air. We beg You, grant us victory and establish a just peace in Ukraine,” said the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine.

After the addresses were voiced, the choir performed the spiritual hymn “God, great and one, save Ukraine for us!”

The head of state congratulated heads of churches and leaders of religious organizations on Independence Day and thanked them for the spiritual support of the Ukrainian people.
