60% of Russians polled would support “new offensive on Kyiv”, while 65% also seek end to war

A decision by Russian President Vladimir Putin to launch a “new offensive on Kyiv” would be supported by 60 percent of Russians, while 65 percent of respondents would also approve of the Russian president’s move to conclude a peace agreement and end the war.

These are the data of the latest sociological research by the Russian Field Service, RFE/RL reports.

The authors of the survey note that its results may not coincide with the real opinion of the respondents, since “Russians are afraid to talk on the topic – refusals have increased, while sincerity has decreased.”

In general, half of those polled spoke for continuing hostilities in Ukraine, and 38 percent – for switching to peace negotiations. The overall level of support for the so-called “special operation” (as Russia brands a full-scale war it is waging against Ukraine) is 69%, about a quarter of respondents are against it, while another 8% could not answer the question.

The opinion that the war in Ukraine has been going on for too long is shared by 59 percent of respondents, while 28 percent think otherwise. 30% of the survey participants believe that the war in Ukraine will continue for more than a year, 20% hope for it to end within six months, and 13% – for the cessation of hostilities within one to two months.

62 percent of Russians are sure that the so-called special operation is successful or “more likely to be successful.” 19 percent hold the opposite opinion.

62% of male respondents in the Russian Federation said that they are not ready to personally take part in hostilities if there is an opportunity to dodge. In May, the numbers stood at 55 percent.

29 percent of respondents, a third of whom are between the ages of 45 and 59, declared their desire to personally participate in the “special operation”.

There are also few people willing to help the Russian military financially: 67% of Russians are not at all ready to donate their own funds to support the war, and 12% agree to spend no more than 1,000 rubles a month to this end.

Also, according to the survey, one in three Russian believes that the Sun revolves around the Earth.
