MFA: With missile attack on Odesa port, Putin spits in Guterres, Erdogan’s faces

The missile attack by the Russian invaders of the port of Odesa less than a day after the signing of the grain export agreement is Vladimir Putin’s spit in the faces of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.

That’s according to a statement by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleg Nikolenko, Ukrinform reports.

Nikolenko said it took less than 24 hours for the Russian Federation to launch a missile attack on the port of Odesa to question the agreements and promises it undertook before the UN and Turkey in the document signed in Istanbul on Friday.

“The Russian missile is Vladimir Putin’s spit in the faces of UN Secretary General António Guterres and Turkish President Recep Erdogan, who made enormous efforts for the deal to be signed, and to whom Ukraine is grateful,” said the spokesperson for Ukrainian diplomacy.

He added that Ukraine emphasizes the need to strictly implement the agreements regarding the restoration of safe export of Ukrainian agricultural goods through the Black Sea from three ports: Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Yuzhnyi.

“We call on the UN and Turkey to ensure that Russia complies with its obligations within the framework of the safe functioning of the grain corridor. In case of non-fulfillment of the agreements reached, Russia will bear full responsibility for the deepening of the global food crisis,” the spokesman underlined.

On July 23, Russian invaders attacked the Odesa Sea Trade Port with Kalibr cruise missiles. Two missiles were shot down by air defense forces, while another two hit the port infrastructure.

As a result of a quadrilateral meeting between Ukraine, Turkey, the United Nations, and Russia, an agreement was signed in Istanbul on July 22, according to which grain and other foodstuffs were to be exported from the ports of Ukraine.
