The annexation of the Crimean dioceses by the Russian Orthodox Church shows an example in which direction the decision of the May Council of the UOC-MP should be implemented, UOC-MP Metropolitan Klyment (Vecherya) is convinced, as quoted by strana.news outlet, banned in Ukraine.
At the same time, Klyment stated that the ROC understands that the processes of church life in the territories it claims are close to the point of no return.
“The statements voiced in the decisions of the Moscow Synod contain no direct accusations or ultimatums. You can read in them the understanding that many processes of church life in the entire space, which is canonically claimed by the ROC, are close to the point of no return. The argument, as the secular media now puts it, is that the ‘annexation’ of the Crimean dioceses is presented as a ‘lack of regular communication’ with Kyiv. This is a very diplomatic but unambiguous formulation of agreement with the actions of the UOC-MP, which has no ‘regular communication’ with Moscow at all. And the patriarchate in fact shows an example in which direction our church should continue to implement the decision of the May Council,” said the hierarch of the UOC-MP.
