    Crimean Tatars’ Mustafa Dzhemilev nominated for Nobel Peace Prize 2022

    Vice Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, Malgorzata Gosewska, has nominated the leader of the Crimean Tatar people, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev, for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.

    This was reported by QIRIM.News with reference to Polish rights activist Peter Chlebowicz.

    Among the nominees for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize are British nature researcher David Attenborough, the World Health Organization, Belarusian opposition leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Tuvaluan Foreign Minister Simon Kawa, and Pope Francis.

    At the same time, the outlet recalls s that a member of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Abmedjit Suleymanov, in December 2020 appealed to the Office of the President of Ukraine with a request to nominate Dzhemilev for the Nobel Peace Prize.

    Earlier, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, 2011, and 2015. In 2011, seventeen academics from Ukraine, Poland, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Turkey, and the United States, as well as three members of parliament from Ukraine, Canada, and the European Union, filed an appeal to grant the award to the Crimean Tatar leader.
