A Ukraine-based religious expert Oleksandr Yefremenko reminded that the Moscow Patriarchate had previously usurped the Georgian and Polish Orthodox Churches before moving in to invade the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
… The Russian Church unceremoniously usurped Georgia and Poland back in the day, and now, brazenly and deliberately, violating the canons of the Ecumenical Councils, it has entered [the Patriarchate of ed.) Alexandria, the place where Orthodoxy existed at a time when there was merely a swamp on the territory of today’s Moscow, and where there were no Russians at all!” the expert emphasizes in his post on social media.
Yefremenko believes that ROC Metropolitan Leonid (Gorbachev), who is referred to in Russia as the so-called “head of the ROC Exarchate in Africa,” is well aware of all these historical facts, as he has long been the ROC’s representative to the Patriarch of Alexandria.
“The Church of Alexandria was founded by the Apostle Mark in the first century. It was in Alexandria, through the efforts of St. Anthony the Great, where monasticism was conceived, and this Church gave the world countless saints, defenders, and teachers of Orthodoxy, including Athanasius of Alexandria, a zealous fighter against Arianism, as well as many others. Now Leonid Gorbachev, together with his subordinates, claims to be set to save Alexandria from the effects of the schism! All this looks rather absurd,” religious expert Oleksandr Yefremenko summed up.
