Russia has already attacked in 2014, but many have forgotten this fact – OCU Metropolitan Dymytriy

Answering a question about the possible Russian invasion, Metropolitan Dymytriy (Rudiuk) of Lviv and Sokal recalled that Russia had already attacked Ukraine in 2014, while many had forgotten about it. Now Ukrainians need to be ultimately organized and focused as a nation.

“Will there be a war in Ukraine?” This is the question that everyone asks. There is no lack of reflection on this. For some reason, many forget that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has taken place a long time ago, as this fact was recorded in 2014. The Church always calls for peace, the Church preaches peace, but peace must be just, not forced. Unfortunately, such information does not reassure people because they are already exhausted by the pandemic and, ultimately, by the war that has been going on for seven years already,” the metropolitan said in an interview with the Religion Pravda online outlet.

He also recommended that people keep their inner peace because wars accompany the entire history of mankind.

“Of course, this is a catastrophe in human relations, in ties between nations. He who seeks war is a spiritless man, losing all possible healthy landmarks in life because war takes away life, and any lost life is grief, and it’s the one who unleashed war who is condemned,” said Metropolitan Dymytriy.

According to the cleric, people are not very mentally stable today sp the Church must give people the right guidelines, while Ukrainians must be as organized as possible as a nation.

“No one has been able to overcome obsessions and problems with depression too easily, and these issues seem obvious. The Church must not only reassure people, it must offer them the right guidelines on how to act in this situation and how not to lose personal freedom and common sense amid all this because maybe someone for these reasons even wants to impose certain restrictions on human freedoms. We all need to be as focused and organized as possible. ”

The hierarch of the OCU also drew attention to new methods of war applied by the Russian Federation.

The methods of warfare are constantly changing, and we all know the term ‘hybrid warfare,’ or ‘information warfare.’ There is one thing to keep in mind. In the first two wars (World Wars I and II), people launched a huge amount of steel at each other. As Churchill once pointed out, the whole nations, including women and children, were involved in that massacre. He saw in this a national disaster and the psychological wounds and drama of entire nations. We see that something like this continues and there is nothing new under the sun, only advanced military technologies have accumulated new sophisticated weapons against human life, which is obvious,” said Metropolitan Dymytriy.
