Ukrainian state exists as long as it has strong army  – OCU military chaplain

Deputy Head of the Synodal Department of the OCU’s Military Clergy for Cooperation with the Volunteer Movement and the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine paid a visit to the Disciplinary Battalion.

That’s according to the Army-inform online platform.

During his meeting with the military, Chaplain Pavlo Osnovenko noted: “The history of the Ukrainian Army dates back over a thousand years. There are many victorious pages in our history, starting from the times of Kyivan Rus, a state that was one of the largest and most powerful in Europe at the time. Let us recall the times of the Cossack state and the period of national liberation struggles of the early 20th century, as well as the times of World War 2, when the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA – ed.) continued to fight for Ukrainian independence. With the onset of the Russo-Ukrainian war, it was the Ukrainian Army and its legacy that stopped the enemy in their tracks. Our history shows that the Ukrainian state existed when it had a strong army, so a strong Armed Force is the key to Ukraine’s independence.”

After congratulating the military on their professional holiday, the military chaplain consecrated the renovated premises of the military base.

The Disciplinary Battalion of the Military Law Enforcement Service is the only military unit engaged in correction and re-education of conscripts, as well prevention of crimes in their ranks. Therefore, pastoral work with the military personnel by the OCU military chaplain remains important for the military unit.

It should be recalled that the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, signed the adopted bill on chaplaincy, calling it an important step in Army reform. In Lutsk, OCU chaplains led a joint prayer for the heroes fallen in the Anti-Terrorist/Joint Forces Operation zone.
