That’s according to the press service of the OCU’s Kyiv Metropolis.

The meeting was also attended by Archbishop Yevstratiy of Chernihiv and Nizhyn (Zorya), Archpriest Serhiy Dmytriyev, Deputy Head of the OCU’s Social Services and Charity Department, Consultant at Eleos-Ukraine Valeria Rachynska, and Oleksandr Zayets, Chairman of the Board at the Institute for Religious Freedom.

During the meeting, the parties stressed the need for constant attention to the problem of domestic violence and the use of clear mechanisms to counter its manifestations and provide assistance to its victims. In this context, it was about opening centers for assistance to victims of violence, such as the one opened in Kyiv region by the OCU, with the assistance of partner organizations.

Oleksandr Zayets also informed the participants that a specially designed guidebook for clergymen dedicated to combating domestic violence will soon be published.

The OCU hierarchs stressed that Ukrainian legislation carries well-thought-out mechanisms to combat domestic violence, most of which, according to the clergy, are even better than those provided by international regulations. His Beatitude stressed that the Church supports efforts to apply these mechanisms and further improve them.
