Bishop of the ROCinU in Zaporizhia, Luka (Kovalenko), published an alternative version of Russian history, claiming that the “Russian land” began from the “Kyiv cliffs” and the “Dnipro rapids”, therefore alleging that Ukraine is part of the “home of Russian holiness.”
That’s according to a post on his Telegram channel, entitled “The World of Russian Saints and Ukrainian Wannabe Patriots.”
“Today is the day of all Russian saints, all our relatives in flesh and blood, all those who glorified our land with sweat and blood of their spiritual deeds. The Russian land, having sprung into existence on the Kyiv cliffs and in the Dnipro rapids, started to expand together with the light of the faith of Christ, which it accepted into its heart, to the very crowns of the earth,” Kovalenko’s post reads.
According to the Metropolitan of the Moscow Patriarchate, patriots who are fighting “Russian World” are “fighting Orthodoxy.”
“But what then is the ‘Ukrainian world’ from their perspective? Do you think they will tell you that this is the philosophy by G. Skovoroda, poems by T. Shevchenko and L. Kostenko, books by P. Myrny, M. Kotsyubynsky and I. Franko? None of the wannabe patriots even mentions these compatriots of ours. Their world is S. Bandera and R. Shukhevych, ‘forest devils’ of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and mignons of fascists from the SS Galicia,” the hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine wrote indignantly.
Kovalenko suggested that their world is different and that they don’t distinguish between Kyiv and Radonezh saints, between Pochaiv and Pskov-Pechersk saints.
“We are all one Christian family, one home of Russian holiness, and there is no force that would force us to leave this home. This world leads us to Heaven and saves us on earth “the hierarch of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine emphasized.
He added that the world of Ukrainian patriots, which was allegedly incepted in hell, “will see its end there, too.”
It should be recalled that Metropolitan Luka of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine has been included in the Peacemaker database of Russian mignons several years ago. Religious scholar Dmytro Gorevoy believes that Luka is promoting in Ukraine the interests of a Donetsk-Moscow oligarch.
Earlier, Luka claimed he knew the causes of the pandemic. In his opinion, it was “global conspiracy led by Soros and the Vatican” that’s to blame for the coronavirus. He is also an ardent opponent of autocephaly for the ROCinU to be granted by Moscow and even pronounced an anathema to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. Luka (Kovalenko) also despises the feat of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and compared Maidan revolution activists to the persecutors of Christians, and himself – to the apostle. He also has a very specific vision of the Russian-Ukrainian war. For example, in his posts, he accused the United States, not Russia, of having occupied Ukraine. Luka was also spotted intimidating the faithful of the Moscow Patriarchate over Joe Biden who is allegedly set to bring “challenges” to the ROCinU.
Kovalenko recently stated that God is against government, because government is against the Moscow Patriarchate, who he claimed are “patriots.”
