Moscow church calling its followers for Kyiv procession

The Moscow Patriarchate is set up to hold a procession in Kyiv on July 27-28 in honor of the 1033rd anniversary of the Baptism of Rus. Worship services will be held on Volodymyrska Hill and in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, as well as the All-Ukrainian Procession.

This is stated on the Facebook page of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, Glavсom reports.

A prayer of thanksgiving will begin on Volodymyrska Hill on July 27 at 13:00 Kyiv time, presided over by the head of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine, Metropolitan Onufriy, together with the bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

After the prayer, a procession will proceed from Volodymyrska Hill to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

It is expected that the pro-Russian MP and Deacon of the Russian Orthodox Church who also sponsors the latter, Vadym Novynsky, will attend the event along with his allies.

To increase the number of people willing to join the procession, the ROCinU decided to bring in various shrines from Pochaiv, Odesa, and Sviatohirsk.

The next day, July 28, on the day of remembrance of St. Prince Volodymyr, Metropolitan of Kyiv Onufriy (Berezovsky) will lead the Divine Liturgy in the square in front of the Assumption Cathedral of the Lavra.

Earlier, the ROCinU’s event caused a traffic collapse in the southern resort city of Odesa.

The Moscow Church held a 40-kilometer march in Bukovyna.

On June 15, members of the ROCinU and members of the Myriany NGO rallied outside the President’s Office to complain about bills that would bring the title of the ROC in Ukraine in line with legislation. The ROCinU explained that they had protested “for the sake of religious peace” and against the visit of Patriarch Bartholomew. The Myriany NGO and the ROCinU told reporters that they belonged to the Moscow Patriarchate, but were “against renaming of the UOC.”
