On Monday, October 25, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew is scheduled to be discharged from George Washington University Hospital after undergoing a health monitoring routine. After arriving in the United States, the 81-year-old patriarch felt unwell and was admitted to hospital for a medical checkup.
The press service of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America reported that Bartholomew was already feeling better and expected to leave hospital today to continue his visit.
Earlier, Joe Biden’s personal physician contacted the hospital, inquiring about the health of the Ecumenical Patriarch and offering his services if necessary.
During the 12-day visit to the United States that began on Saturday, October 23, the spiritual leader of the world’s 200 million Orthodox Christians will raise religious, political, and environmental issues.
As reported by the Spiritual Front of Ukraine, it is expected that Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on his visit to the United States will try to solve problems ranging from the incomplete restructuring of the American Church to the status of his Church in his homeland, Turkey.
