The talking heads of the ROC, feeling they can’t hinder the processes unfolding in the modern Orthodox Church, went all-in and resorted to comparing the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew with Hitler!
At the forefront of the information attack against Bartholomew was Alexander Voznesensky, which is no surprise. This is an infamous “parishioner” of the Limassol-based Russian-speaking parish of St. Nicholas and an ardent supporter of the “Russian world” concept, referring to himself as a seminary alumnus (although he never completed his study). He has been taking an active part in all dirty information campaigns run by the ROC and Russian intelligence. Well, of course he has because he is a classic agent of influence handled by the Russian secret services and deployed in one of their strongholds for intelligence operations in this EU country – the St. Nicholas Church in Limassol.
By the way, since 2009 the co-chairman of the board of trustees of the St. Nicholas Church in Limassol has been former head of the State Duma Sergei Naryshkin, the incumbent Russian foreign intelligence chief.
In 2018, the parish welcomed a new priest Pavel Povalyaev, who was “reassigned” from Norway.
It is noteworthy that in Oslo, this priest, together with the Russian spy Dmitry Linov, had been engaged in intelligence and subversive operations in favor of the Russian Federation – up until Norwegian counterintelligence stopped their endeavors and Moscow therefore deployed the two “comrades” to Cyprus.
However, it’s not even the main point, although it’s definitely important.
In this case, the main thing is that the asset handled by Russian intelligence, operating at a temple in Cyprus, compares the Ecumenical Patriarch with Hitler! How is that possible in the first place? Such an outrageous and direct comparison, without any undertones…
In my opinion, Alexander Voznesensky has exposed himself way too heavily. Also, I believe that the St. Nicholas church in Limassol should be brought into the spotlight as it is becoming a regional cradle of propaganda filth.
