The Center for Countering Disinformation expects an increase in the number of efforts inciting religious enmity in the media space during the Easter holidays, as well as missile attacks.
That’s according to Ivan Slychko, head of the media literacy department at the Center for countering disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, who spoke on the air of Hromadske Radio, Religious Pravda reports.
“We foresee an increase in religious conflicts in the media space during the Easter holidays. Russia, as always, would take some serious event and twist it in its own way. The number of provocative fakes, manipulations regarding the oppression of clergymen, regarding the oppression of believers with the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine will increase,” said Slychko.
Narratives such as “the Kyiv regime stood up against the canonical church” are also predicted in order to discredit the authorities of Ukraine.
“Taking into account the experience of past years, it is highly likely that the Russian Federation is also preparing missile provocations during the festive period, so do not ignore air raid alerts. If something like this starts circulatingin the media space, we will report it, but you should be aware of air raid alerts and immediately shelter,” says Slychko.
The Center points out that in all regions there is a high probability of sabotage and reconnaissance efforts by Russian units, and calls on citizens to remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings.
