The court ruled to remand in custody four members of the recently exposed criminal organization representing the informal media pool of the UOC (in unity with the MP), which had been working in the interest of the Russian FSB, spreading religious enmity. One of them served as the right hand for the mastermind behind the network and was responsible for the editorial policy of this bloc. Two others edited and approved the publications before their release, and the fourth perpetrator wrote articles on the given topics.
This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
One of the leaders of a Kyiv-based UOC-MP temple, who served as an agent for the Russian security agency, is among the detainees who were taken into custody. According to Ukrainian Pravda, this is priest Serhiy Chertylin. He would instruct authors of the publications, determined the delivery vector, and controlled the content.
The group mass-produced and circulated pro-Kremlin narratives and provocative messages to destabilize Ukraine and incite religious enmity.
In total, 14 members of the group are targeted in the case. Another 10, who are outside the country, have already been charged in absentia and declared wanted.
