Several Russian Telegram channels reported that an Aurus, presumably owned by Patriarch Kirill, had crashed in Moscow, while some propaganda media rushed to deny the report.
Astra, Baza, Shot channels on Telegram, as well as Russian propaganda agencies RIA Novosti, RBC, and Russian Interfax all published the relevant reports.
“The Aurus vehicle, likely owned by Patriarch Kirill, was involved in an accident in the center of Moscow. It is unclear who was in the car. Kremlin media write that the car belongs to Patriarch Kirill. The report has not been officially confirmed,” reports say.
Similar posts were also published by other public platforms. Baza reports that the accident occurred at 6:30 at the intersection of Mira Avenue and Bolnichny Lane. A Volvo was driving out of the alley when the Aurus crashed into it.
As a result of the collision, one person is believed to have been injured, with no hospitalization required.
Baza writes, referring to tentative reports, that the Aurus is registered to Patriarch Kirill, but it is still unknown whether he himself was in the car at the moment of the accident. Photos and videos from the scene were widely shared across social media.
At the same time, the Russian Interfax with reference to a source in the Russian Orthodox Church said the report claiming any involvement of Kirill’s vehicle in the accident is false.
According to the interlocutor, as of 9:50 Moscow time, the Aurus carrying Kirill was approaching the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
