Onufriy, the head of the Church, which is “Ukrainian” only by name, the so-called “UOC,” promotes collaborators in cassocks who cooperate with the Russcists, instead of punishing them. Yesterday, Onufriy “secretly” promoted one of such collaborators – a bishop from Luhansk region, Pavlo (Valuyskyi), who received the rank of archbishop. Onufriy also secretly promoted the “Bishop of Dobropol” Spyridon (Holovastov) to the same rank. Both promotions were secret as they were never reported on the official resources of the UOC MP. Instead, the move was announced only on the website of the Luhansk Diocese. Access to the site has been blocked on the territory of Ukraine.
It should be recalled that “Bishop Pavlo of Bilovodsky, who was promoted yesterday by Onufry to the rank of archbishop, has gained notoriety for his close contacts with the Russian occupation forces.
In particular, Bishop Pavlo was part of the UOC MP delegation that met with the leader of the “LPR” terrorist organization Leonid Pasichnyk on July 13, 2022. At that time, the UOC MP website reported that the bishops met with the criminal warlord Pasichnyk “with the aim of strengthening and developing church-state relations in the region.” The UOC MP assured believers that this was allegedly the first meeting during which terrorist Pasichnik met the bishops of the UOC MP. “The meeting took place in a warm atmosphere of unity and mutual understanding,” said the official statement released on the website of the UOC MP.
On July 17, Moscow Patriarch Cyril (Gundyaev), who justifies the murders of Ukrainians and the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine, met with bishops of the UOC MP from the temporarily occupied areas of Luhansk region. Bishop Pavlo also attended that meeting.
Interestingly, the UOC-MP did not react in any way to the meeting with terrorist Pasichnyk or to that the propagandist in a cassock, Cyril. In the “Ukrainian” Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, they simply pretended that nothing interesting and worthy of attention happened, and that cooperation with the invaders is a routine matter for the UOC MP, which is not even worth commenting on.
It is worth noting that the UOC MP Archbishop Klyment (Vecherya) immediately reacted negatively to the meeting of the UOC MP priests with the OCU clergy in Sofia, while after the meetings of the UOC MP with terrorist Pasichnyk and Moscow Patriarch Cyril (who justifies the murders of Ukrainians), he did not say a word. And now the head of the UOC MP Onufriy generally awards bishops who proactively cooperate with the murderers of Ukrainians.
Thus, the pro-Russian priorities of the supposedly “Ukrainian” and “independent” UOC MP are clear and obvious. It is much easier and more profitable for them to establish relations with invaders, Russian puppets, propagandists of the Russian Federation wearing cassocks, and terrorists than with the legitimate government of Ukraine or the clergy of the OCU, which is recognized by four Autocephalous Churches and has a Tomos of autocephaly.
At the same time, the UOC MP complains to international authorities about the “persecution” and “bans” of priests and hieromonks who have already joined the Ukrainian Church. Also, the UOC MP gives awards to priests who have proven loyal to the UOC MP. Puppet NGOs sue officials who are trying to ban this fifth column of the Kremlin in Ukraine. And they already have their first results – the head of the Rivne Regional State Administration has been dismissed.
In addition, such subversive activities by the UOC-MP in Ukraine serve as a picture for propagandists from Russian mass media in stories about “Banderites” and “Nazis” in Ukraine, while they easily find a common language with the occupiers and Moscow Patriarch Cyril. In Russia, they show how the “Kyiv regime” is allegedly cracking down on the UOC MP, while the “canonical” church is “praying for peace.”
The UOC-MP opposes the Ukrainian authorities, pits believers and clergy against the idea of unification with the OCU, suing their own parishioners who voted for the transition to the OCU and “banning” priests who joined the real Ukrainian Church. Confrontations take place not only in courts, but even with the use of force and elderly ladies who are brought in to the conflict sites en masse. All this not only fails to find any negative reaction or proper assessment from the clergy of the UOC MP, in particular Onufriy – it is even encouraged, apparently. Moreover, the awards are issued in secret from Ukrainian public.
While the authorities in Ukraine do nothing about the UOC-MP, the latter are waiting for the “establishment of relations” with the terrorists and invaders and will continue to work toward the division of Ukraine, using the Church split in favor of the Russian invaders. Onufiy continues to reward agents with new robes and actually cooperate with the invaders.
