Ukrainian law enforcers detained the former head of the Security Service’s office for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Oleh Kulinich. Kulinich was dismissed from his post in March 2022.
This was reported by the SBU press service, according to Hromadske.
Sources told the outlet that Kulinich was charged under several articles of the Criminal Code, including high treason.
The SBU emphasized that countering Russian intelligence efforts is one of their main areas of activity. Over the recent years, a number of SBU operatives were investigated precisely for such malign actions, which indicates a “tendency towards self-purification of the agency.”
“By exposing such situations, instead of covering them up, we are implementing a course to build a modern and effective special service capable of countering a powerful adversary that is working to the detriment of Ukraine’s state security. Within the framework of the said inquiry, the SBU is ready to provide maximum assistance and all the necessary information for its further investigation,” the SBU says.
“We emphasize: the SBU employs thousands of honest and professional patriots, many of whom are now defending Ukraine at the front lines, up in arms. We are pursuing the course toward purging the agency: traitors have no place in the SBU,” the press center concluded.
