Ukraine will insist on the EU imposing sanctions on ROC Patriarch Kirill and other Russians who undermine national security and justify the killing of Ukrainians.
This was announced by a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleh Nikolenko, UNN reports.
“Ukraine will continue to seek sanctions against Cyril and other Russians who undermine national security,” the spokesman for the diplomatic corps said.
According to the official, in total, the Ukrainian side has prepared a sanctions list, which includes more than 12,000 Russian oligarchs, officials, propagandists, and war criminals.
“We are working with our partners on a mechanism that will prioritize the application of personal sanctions to all those who contribute to or are involved in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. The Russian regime, which has inflicted so much grief on Ukrainians, must bear the strictest responsibility,” the diplomat stressed.
It should be recalled that on June 2, EU diplomats finally approved the bloc’s sixth package of sanctions on Russia for invading Ukraine.
According to media reports, EU ambassadors have agreed to remove Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church from the EU’s proposed list of sanctions because of Hungary’s position. The ROC thanked Hungary for protection from sanctions against Patriarch Kirill.
