In London, a Ukrainian delegation of religious figures took part in a discussion of the role of the Church in the context of Russian aggression. The round table “Orthodox Battlefield” was held on January 29, 2025 at the Chatham House think tank.

This was reported by the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.

During the event, representatives from various Ukrainian denominations, alongside British experts, discussed the influence of the Orthodox faith on the formation of Ukrainian identity, the reasons for the ban on the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine, and the peculiarities of interfaith cooperation amid war. Among the speakers were Metropolitan Yevstratiy of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Pastor Ihor Bandura, and British journalist Lucy Ash. The discussion was moderated by Orisya Lutsevych, head of the Ukrainian Forum at Chatham House.

On the same day, a delegation from the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations held a series of important meetings. Ukrainian religious figures spoke with British parliamentarians, Foreign Office officials, and the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy David Smith.

The Ukrainian delegation included representatives of the main Christian denominations – the Orthodox, Catholic, Greek Catholic, and Protestant churches, as well as the Jewish community and the Institute for Religious Freedom.
