Pro-Russian religious organizations still operating in Ukraine – scholar

Liudmila Filipovych, a religion scholar and professor at the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, expressed her opinion on Bill 3894 aimed at banning the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

The pundit spoke on the air of UA:PBC.

According to the expert, there are still religious organizations in Ukraine that maintain ties with Russia and spread pro-Russian narratives, although this may not be so obvious.

Filipovych drew attention to the fact that the main purpose of the law is to investigate collaborationism with the enemy on the part of churches, and only then will the authorities make a decision on the ban. At the same time, she is sure that representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (in unity with the Moscow Patriarchate) should also be included in the commission that will decide on banning any religious organizations.

Earlier, Filipovych said it was impossible to shut down thousands of parishes run by the UOC (MP) and that their individual representatives must be held accountable.
