Metropolitan Epifaniy calls on world to unite against Kremlin’s ecocide in Ukraine

On the World Day of Environmental Protection, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and all Ukraine appealed to unite efforts to stop Russia’s environmental crimes.

“I’d like to draw the attention of the international community to the great crime of a global scale that Russia has been committing. Its war in the heart of Europe is not only about the killing of Ukrainians, but also about the killing of the environment, and not only in the territory of our state,” the Primate emphasized.

According to Metropolitan Epifaniy, the traces of Russian aggression, emissions, combustion products and pollution are already spilling beyond the borders of Ukraine and pose a threat to other nations of Europe and the world.

“The Kremlin tyrant is taking away the right to a healthy creation not only from current, but also from future generations. He encroaches on clean air, water, healthy food, and global security,” the Bishop stated.

The head of the OCU called on the civilized democracies around the world to join forces to stop the Russian aggressor and prevent further environmental destruction. He emphasized that the time has come not for words, but for concrete actions to preserve the environment and life on the planet.
