In past two years, over 2,000 religious communities join OCU – Epifaniy

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Metropolitan Epifaniy, said that over 2,000 religious communities had joined the OCU over the past two years.

“I am convinced that we will also serve in the Pochaiv Lavra. It’s only a matter of time, because this process is irreversible,” he said in an interview with Suspilne.

According to the Metropolitan, polls show that the majority of Orthodox in Ukraine support the OCU. “People do not want to be part of the Russian Orthodox Church, which brands itself a Ukrainian church, but in reality it is not,” he emphasized.

“The church headed by Metropolitan Onufriy is the metropolis of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine. There are still those who do not understand this and consider it Ukrainian. But the time will come when they will understand and realize this,” Epifaniy added.

He expressed confidence that over time all Orthodox Christians in Ukraine will become part of the OCU.
