Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra embracing Revised Julian calendar

From November 15, 2023, the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra will switch to the Revised Julian calendar, which has been the main one for the Orthodox Church of Ukraine since September.

This was reported by the acting vicar of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, Archimandrite Avraamii, on Facebook, according to Ukrinform.

“At the numerous requests of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra parishioners, with the blessing of the holy archimandrite of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy, from November 15 (the start of the Christmas fast), the Lavra will switch to the Revised Julian calendar, which is the main one for our local church,” he wrote.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Orthodox Church of Ukraine switched to the Revised Julian calendar from September 1, 2023. In the new church year, the dates of immovable holidays, fasts, communions, and days of commemoration of saints will be celebrated 13 days earlier than in the Julian calendar that was applied previously.
