Primates of three Churches that recognize OCU can meet in October

Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, and Archbishop George III of Cyprus may meet in October in Athens.

From October 12 to 15, Athens will host celebrations in honor of the 100th anniversary of the ΘΕΟΓΟΓΙΑ journal and the 15th anniversary of the election of Ieronymos (Liapis) as head of the Church of Greece. The head of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Patriarch Bartholomew, Archbishop George III of the Church of Cyprus, and the President of Greece, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, are also invited to participate. This was reported by the Orthodoxya News Agency.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding and non-stop publication of the scientific journal ΘΕΟΛΟΓΙΑ a scientific conference entitled Orthodox Theology on the Way to the ‘Immaterial Reality’ of Late Modernity” will be held October 12-15. Leading Orthodox theologians from Greece and the whole world will participate in the event.

The solemn opening of the Conference will take place on Thursday, October 12, in the Cathedral of Athens in the presence of the Synod of Bishops of the Church of Greece. The rest of the sessions will be hosted by the Athens Concert Hall.

On Sunday, October 15, a solemn Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the cathedral in cooperation with the Synod of Bishops of the Church of Hellas.

The Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X is also invited to attend the events. However, his participation seems extremely unlikely given the dependence on financial and humanitarian aid from the Russian Federation and the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as from the Syrian dictator and Vladimir Putin’s friend Bashar Assad.

It is worth noting that right before the start of the celebration, from October 9 to 11, a meeting of the Bishops’ Council of the Church of Greece, headed by ArchbishopIieronymos II, will take place.
