The Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church launched the “Children Helping Children” charity event to raise funds for the treatment of more than 600 children from all over the country who are staying at the otolaryngology department of ISUL Hospital.
The fund-raising campaign was officially opened on June 1 with a concert and charity exhibition in Sofia. Funds collected from the initiative will be donated to the Department of Children’s Otolaryngology UMBAL “Queen Joanna – ISUL”, reports doxologiainfonews.com.
Metropolitan Gavriil of Lovech, who is the head of the cultural and educational department of the Synod, wished success to the rally and encouraged those seeking to help to actively join the campaign.
The event was attended by gifted child singers and instrumentalists who shared their talent with their sick peers.
The fundraiser will support ISUL’s need for funds to refurbish and improve the conditions in the children’s ward, which will help separate children with infectious diseases from those who need conventional treatment.
