In his sermon on the occasion of the Day of Restoration of St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kyiv, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine directly connected the spiritual revival of the state with the reconstruction and restoration of churches in the country.
“This cathedral has been restored from the ruins – wounded but indomitable Ukraine will be restored, with the mercy of God and our joint efforts!” said Metropolitan Epifaniy, reports the press service of the OCU.
The Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine emphasized that the reconstruction of the temple played a special role: it became a symbol of the revival of the Ukrainian Church, the spiritual revival of Kyiv and a memorial that honors the heroes of the fight for truth and freedom.
The Primate reminded that it was St. Michael’s Cathedral that became the starting point of Ukraine’s new history when, after the Revolution of Dignity, it became the site for commemorating the heroes thanks to whom Ukraine preserved its will in the fight against the aggressor.
The head of the OCU emphasized: “It is impossible to build happiness, well-being and prosperity on falsehood and impiety. True victory and freedom is only where God is.”
