UOC of USA archbishop reminds faithful about spiritual beauty of Ukrainian traditions

UOC of the USA (Ecumenical Patriarchate)’s Archbishop Daniel added joy and positive spirit in his latest visit to Saints Peter and Paul Parish in Carnegie on May 21. He performed the first communion for the son of one of the priests.

During Holy Liturgy, Archbishop Daniel explained to the parishioners the importance of Ukrainian traditions for the younger generation. He gave away flowers to the needy and blessed the faithful before leaving, reports the UOC of the USA website.

During the sermon, the bishop focused on overcoming spiritual blindness through Christ. He congratulated Fr. Ivan and the children who confessed for their first time.

Archbishop Daniel inspected the humanitarian cargo, seeing the efforts of the parish to help the community and blessed and hugged parishioners before leaving, showing concern for the faithful.

The parish expects him to return in the future for the anniversary celebration.

Fr. Ivan Charest, one of the priests, said he saw many smiles throughout the day. He, like the rest of the parish, hopes that the UOC of the USA bishop will return in November to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the founding of the parish.

Bishop Daniel’s short visit added joy to the faithful and reminded them of the importance of preserving Ukrainian heritage.
