Kyiv Mayor Klitschko calls on residents to celebrate Easter at home

Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko called on the city’s residents to stay at home on Easter night and to give priority to live broadcasts of church services.

“I would like to remind you that the celebration of the Easter holidays this year takes place amid martial law. Residents of the capital are asked to stay at home on Easter night and give priority to the broadcasts of church services. Remember that the curfew is in place from 00:00 to 05:00,” Klitschko stated.

He noted that the city appealed to the heads of religious communities with a request to limit the holding of mass religious services and to ensure as much as possible online broadcasts from religious sites on Ukrainian TV channels and via the internet, reports Ukrinform.

“Ukraine is living through war so we must be conscious citizens and act in accordance with the recommendations of the military, avoiding mass gatherings. That’s because the enemy is insidious and they might resort to provocations or strikes on holidays,” mayor added.

The head of the Joint Coordination Press Center at the South Defense Forces, Natalia Humeniuk, said the Army currently detects no active preparations for strikes on Easter. At the same time, she called on citizens to remain vigilant and avoid mass gatherings.
