OCU head discusses humanitarian, charitable initiatives with Slovakia officials

On March 9, 2023, Metropolitan Epifaniy received in his residence, the Metropolitan House, Slovakia Ambassador to Ukraine Marek Šafin and representatives of Slovakia’s National Council Monika Kozelova, Anna Merna, Martina Brisudova, and Anna Zemanova.

This was reported by the OCU press service.

During the meeting, the parties discussed setting up specialized shelters for women who, amid Russia’s full-scale invasion, suffered from the war crimes committed by the occupiers. The project, which includes shelters for women who have become victims of domestic violence, is already being implemented by the Department of Social Service and Charity of the OCU “Eleos-Ukraine”, including with the assistance of the Slovak Republic.

The parties also talked other humanitarian and charitable initiatives, resistance to the ongoing Russian onslaught, Ukrainian nationals who have found refuge in Slovakia, and an awareness campaign to reach out to those abroad who are still doubt as to who the aggressor is in the ongoing war.

“Thanks to the help provided by the government and people of Slovakia, thanks to your support we have already managed to do a lot. Therefore, please do not forget about Ukraine in the future, so that together we can implement even more good deeds and protect the truth. After all, a lot now depends on Ukraine’s victory, including the triumph of international law in general,” said the Primate of the autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Wrapping up the meeting, Metropolitan Epifaniy also spoke with a group of  Slovak journalists.
