Patriarch of Moscow Kirill (Gundyaev) delivered a new “sermon”, which looked more like a propaganda speech as he spoke of Russia allegedly being head of Western civilization. In addition, Kirill said that now the priests of the Russian Orthodox Church should support the Russians, so that, when they are ordered to attack, they stand up and be ready to die.

“Our men (Russian occupiers, – ed.), first of all those who go to the front line,” says Kirill, “are in great need of spiritual support.” And in this situation there can be no formal words. You need to be able to tell them what will strengthen him, including when the order “Attack!” is given. The order, without which there can be no victory, when you have to stand up and be ready to die. And our boys are doing the same now – they are rising from the trenches and going to meet their death.”
In this regard, Moscow Patriarch Kirill convinced the Russians that now they should especially pray for the Russian occupation forces in Ukraine and support them financially in any way they can. However, he traditionally failed to recognize that Russian troops are waging a war of aggression and committing crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine.
“Look for opportunities, collect money, send parcels, if possible go there yourself, support our servicemen (invaders, – ed.). I know that a lot is already being done, but I think it is still not enough, and even in the media space they rarely talk about the Russian Orthodox Church helping those who are today in Donetsk, Luhansk, on the front lines,” Gundyaev said.
He even called Russia’s criminal war on Ukraine a “war for the Motherland and its people.” In addition, Kirill considers it normal that Russian troops are fighting against Ukraine and “protecting our (Russian, – ed.) Orthodox people in Donbas.”
At the beginning of his speech, Gundyaev tried to convince believers that “Russia is a real alternative to the absolutely dead-end development of Western civilization.” “Today we are really ahead – with our ideas, our goals, our faith, and our patriotism,” he declared.
At most, Kirill lies that it was not the Russian Federation that attacked Ukraine, but that the Western World armed itself against the Russian “superpower” with the “most powerful weapons”, so the Russians must do everything to ensure that they win.
“Both the Church and all those who act and can influence our society must do everything to ensure that Russia wins,” said Kirill (Gundyaev). “Because today we faced the greatest danger – the Western world has armed itself against us. Why? That’s because we are an alternative, and an alternative is very attractive…”
