Process ongoing: OCU spokesman on transitions of parishes

Speaking with the Chas: Online show hosted by Maria Skibinska on Channel 5, the spokesman for the OCU, Archbishop Yevstratiy (Zorya) of Chernihiv and Nizhyn told how many communities had transferred to the OCU since the outset of the full-scale war.

“The process continues. Almost every day, we see reports that religious communities are freeing themselves from the Moscow spiritual yoke and uniting in the family of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine,” he said.

“Now we know that there is a draft law under consideration in parliament, which eliminates certain artificial obstacles created on the way of religious communities exercising their legal right to change their subordination, their jurisdiction,” said the spokesman.

Yevstratiy Zorya noted that a serious social shift had taken place.

“In general, since we received the Tomos, as we know, it happened 4 years ago, more than 1,600 religious communities have left the Moscow Patriarchate, the great aggression (ed. – Russia). This is about a thousand communities, in this less than a year. There has been a serious social shift,” the OCU spokesman concluded.
