On the eve of Christmas according to the Julian calendar, on January 6, 2022, at the invitation of the military command, Archpriest Dmytro Shapovalov, secretary of the diocesan administration, visited the 65th Missile and Artillery Arsenal of the Logistics Forces, located in the deoccupied town of Balaklia, Izium district of Kharkiv region.
That’s according to the press service of the OCU Kharkiv Diocese.
The priest, on behalf of Bishop yitrofan of Kharkiv and Bogoduhiv, congratulated the soldiers on the great Christian holiday of the coming of the Son of God into the world and read the Christmas message of the Slobozhanschyna bishop. Father Dmytro also handed over the icons of the Savior and the Virgin to the officers for a prayer corner in the military unit, which is being restored after the 2022 hostilities.
The servicemen of the Balaklia Arsenal were greeted by representatives of the creative studios of the local territorial community, as well as a group of children. Young residents of Balaklia recited poems, sang songs, and presented a mini-exhibition, also giving the defenders a craft 023 calendar.
The commander of the unit, Colonel Vadym Hliznutsa, thanked everyone for the greeting organized for the soldiers and promised that the military will do everything in their power in the new year to bring the war to a victorious end.
