Today, December 20, President Volodymyr Zelensky was in Bakhmut, Donetsk region. The visit was not announced in advance.

“President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has made an unannounced visit to Bakhmut,” the report reads, referring to the outlet’s own correspondents on the ground.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky’s press secretary Serhiy Nikiforov, the head of state visited advanced positions, brought soldiers their awards and presented some gifts. Volodmyr Zelensky has already left Bakhmut, Nikiforov clarified.
Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense Hanna Malyar said: “We are on a trip. Today marks 300 days of the great full-scale war and today the president was in Bakhmut to award our best warriors who defend our eastern fortress, Bakhmut. The enemy’s main forces are now amassed there, but the enemy isn’t getting anything.”
The president was also handed a Ukrainian flag from Bakhmut to forward it to partners.
After that, Zelensky left the fiercly defended town.
It is worth noting that the Bakhmut direction is one of the hottest along the entire front line. Russian troops are constantly shelling the area, while suffering heavy losses in their attempt to capture the town.
It should be recalled that in his latest address to the nation, President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the situation at the front, mentioning Bakhmut, noting that the Russians have been trying to seize the Ukrainian Bakhmut since May, but the town does not surrender.
