Cypriot Metropolitan, who did not recognize OCU, visits Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew

On July 25, 2022, the hierarch of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos and Orinis, visited Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.

    That’s according to Greek media.

Patriarch Bartholomew warmly welcomed Metropolitan Isaiah, the report reads, adding that the hierarchs exchanged opinions on a number of issues.

A tour of the Patriarchal Church of George the Victorious was organized for the hierarch of the Church of Cyprus. Metropolitan Isaiah assured Patriarch Bartholomew of the sincere respect and love that he and his clergy have for the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and announced the beginning of pilgrimage missions from the Metropolitanate of Tamassos to Constantinople.

Also during the meeting, Metropolitan Isaiah and Patriarch Bartholomew exchanged gifts.

Earlier, Metropolitan Isaiah of Tamassos came into the spotlight over a number of harsh statements addressing the OCU. He even declared that he would not commemorate the Archbishop of Cyprus at the Divine Service, due to his decision to recognize the OCU as an autocephalous church.
