    Has ROC already annexed UOC-MP dioceses in Luhansk region?

    On Sunday, July 17, Moscow Patriarch Cyril (Gundyaev) held a meeting with bishops from the temporarily occupied areas of Luhansk region.

    As the website of the Russian Orthodox Church notes, Archbishop Arkady (Taranov), head of the Diocese in Rovenki and Sverdlovsk, and Bishop Pavlo Bilovodskyi (Valuyskyi), vicar of the Diocese in Luhansk, met with Cyril.

    “The parties discussed issues of church life in the Luhansk and Rovenkiv dioceses,” the statement says.

    According to open data, the mentioned bishoprics and dioceses were part of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) until recently. At the same time, the report posted on the website of the Moscow Patriarchate does not mention once the affiliation of bishops and dioceses to the UOC.

    On July 13, on the day of the feast of the Cathedral of the Holy 12 Apostles, a meeting of the head of the “LPR” terrorist organization Leonid Pasichnyk with the ruling bishops of the Luhansk, Severodonetsk and Rovenkiv dioceses of the UOC-MP and vicar bishops of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate took place in the administration “LPR” chief’s administration HQ.
