Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko, commenting on the possibility of transferring to the OCU certain premises within the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, said that there is a valid agreement in place on the use of two churches in the Upper Lavra, UNN reports.
“Regarding the OCU and the church in the Lavra. We have a current agreement with the UOC (MP) on the use of two churches in the Upper Lavra. We are trying to build a politically correct dialogue with both the UOC (MP) and the OCU. They are both our churches after all. And in many cases we are involved as mediators. We are always ready to help,” Tkachenko said at a briefing on Friday.
The Minister also touched upon the issue of possible cooperation with the enemy of the priests of the Moscow Patriarchate.
“As for collaborators, or those who help the occupying forces, regardless of which church they are part of. We ask our law enforcement to bring such criminal cases to a completion. Several such things, as far as I know, now exist. I mean, criminal proceedings. But so far I can’t officially comment anything on the course of the inquiries,” Tkachenko said.
It should be recalled that the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Vatican named the facilities in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra that could be provided to the OCU. Earlier, the OCU Synod asked the Ukrainian government to hand over the church in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to them.
