    OCU Metropolitan Klyment meets with Latvian Ambassador

    With the blessing of the head of the OCU, Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Epifaniy, on June 1, Metropolitan Klyment of Simferopol and Crimea met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine, Ilgvars Klava.

    The meeting was also attended by representatives of the OCU Department of Social Service and Charity of Eleos-Ukraine, reports the Center’s press service.

    Metropolitan Klyment conveyed to the ambassador his heartfelt greetings from the head of the OCU, and also expressed gratitude for the support and efforts of the Republic of Latvia to help Ukraine defeat the aggressor and preserve its independence.

    Also on the occasion of International Children’s Day, Bishop Klyment handed over Ukrainian-language books to the Latvian Embassy, ​​which will be delivered to children who became forced refugees due to the Russian attack on Ukraine and found shelter in Latvia together with their parents. The books were purchased by the Eleos-Ukraine Department of Social Service and Charity with the assistance of patrons of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

    In addition, during the meeting, the Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea discussed with the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia the protection of Ukrainian political prisoners and the rights of Ukrainian citizens staying in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and Sevastopol.

    Ilgvars Klava expressed gratitude for the meeting and extended his sincere greetings to Metropolitan Epifaniy.
