Head of UGCC: “Let’s do everything to save human lives in Ukraine”

We feel that saving human life in Ukraine is possible, not only due to the courage of Ukraine’s defenders, but also due to the position of the international community. This was stated by the Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, in his daily address on the 42nd day of the Russian war against Ukraine.

The statement of Patriarch Sviatoslav was released by the UGCC Information Department.

The head of the UGCC noted that the Ukrainian people are heroically defending their land, showing examples of heroism not only by fighting on the battlefield, but also saving lives. That night, the enemy again launched a missile strike on the most vulnerable elements of the infrastructure of the Ukrainian economy. Several enterprises of the chemical industry were bombed, which caused great damage to the ecology of those towns and villages.

“But we are especially saddened,” said His Beatitude Sviatoslav, “by the fate of those people who found themselves in the temporarily occupied territories. We know that in Kherson region, in the south of the Zaporizhia region, food stocks are running out and it is no longer possible to deliver humanitarian goods there. ”

Ukrainian Mariupol is holding on heroically, he says, but humanitarian aid has not been delivered there either. It is becoming increasingly difficult to evacuate people from those dangerous areas. “These humanitarian corridors are constantly fired on and most people die during the evacuation. We were all touched by the story of a four-year-old Sasha from Vyshhorod district, Kyiv region, who also died during the evacuation,” the head of the Church stressed.

Human life during the war… What is it worth in the eyes of man? In God’s eyes it is priceless. “We feel that saving human lives in Ukraine is possible, not only due to the courage of Ukraine’s defenders, but also due to the position of the international community. So let’s do everything to save human lives in Ukraine!” calls His Beatitude Sviatoslav.
