The priest of the Moscow Patriarchate in Kyiv has pronounced an anathema to the Moscow Patriarch Kirill… Since Kirill blesses Russia’s war against Ukraine, the addressee of the anathema is clear, writes PCU cleric Ivan Sydor.
“We see that the longer the war lasts, the more the MP clergy in Ukraine rush from one extreme to another, as if the blind in the Knossos Labyrinth resort to surreal and medieval methods that only create a picture, but in reality change nothing. There is a way out – the Synod of the ROCinU should have long ruled to sever all ties with the ROC and lay these decisions down in its Statute. It seems that the ROCinU clergy is waiting out – perhaps something might change and they won’t need to cut their umbilical cord to a bad stepmother? It’s all in vain. After the war, the Ukrainian people will have their say. Therefore, it is better to make a bold and fair decision now and thus show that the Church stand with Ukraine. Statements and words are just chatter so action is needed. Resolute action,” Sydor said in a Facebook post.
Unfortunately, the blind zombie belief in the mythical “Triune Russia”, “common font”, “canonical ties”, and “fraternal peoples”, inherent in the ROC, takes over,” says the OCU clergyman.
“This subconscious and conscious tumor didn’t go anywhere from their hearts and became firmly entrenched. Tell me, is that why the head of the ROCinU, Metropolitan Onufriy, like most of the bishops of this Church, still mentions the name of Moscow Patriarch Kirill, thus remaining part of the ROC?” the cleric asked.
“Did you see the video of Patriarch Kirill’s Sunday sermon? The one where he presents the head of the Russian Guard a gold icon, the one where from the pulpit of the Church of Christ the Savior in Moscow he states that in Ukraine, fascists and Jewish Banderites continue to bomb clinics, maternity hospitals, schools, hiding behind mothers, children, and the elderly? Where is your word, Ukrainian brothers?” he concluded.
